looking out door

Looking out the door: What better place to be on a snowy day than on the inside looking out! My alpacas love the snow and romp and play in it. But they also want to know what is going on. They often lay or stand in the doorway so they don't miss anything.

Suri Alpacas…

It was love at first sight! Being a weaver & knitter, I thought it would be a great idea to raise the fiber animal as well. I decided to start my research for fiber animals at Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival. What better place to find fiber animals? I was thinking of rare breed sheep until that fateful moment when I came upon an 8 foot square pen containing the neatest animals on the planet. At the time, I didn't know what they were, I only knew I wanted one — whatever it was.

After I learned that the beautiful creatures were alpacas from Peru, the true research began. Another trip to Maryland Sheep & Wool. More research; meet some alpaca farmers; attend a show; choose suris or huacayas; both? I didn't know it, but my life was being taken over by suri alpacas. Dun Roving Farm was born in 2005 and is now the home of 25 exquisite suri alpacas and two huacayas. I am so glad they let me live with them.

Step inside and meet my friends. They love company!
